Institute building in Moscow

The serbsky center (short: Moscow Serbski Institute, Russian . Государственный научный центр социальной и судебной психиатрии им В. П. Сербского ) in Moscow was in the Soviet Union and is still in the Russian Federation, the leading institute for forensic psychiatry . The institute was founded in 1921. It bears the name of the famous pioneer in this scientific field in Russia, Vladimir Petrovich Serbsky . In addition to forensics , the institute focuses on the field of study psychoses and the problem of alcohol and drug use. It has come under criticism more often because of its findings and rehabilitation programs , which also included repressive psychiatric treatment methods, which were created during the Soviet era for political dissidents and alleged troublemakers through political influence . The murdered Russian journalist Anna Politkowskaja wrote , “The Serbsky Institute has an extremely bad reputation in Russia, which stems from the Soviet era. Here dissidents who revolted against communism, against totalitarian lies and political lack of freedom were declared insane ”.
