Serial Interface Engine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Numerous microcontrollers support the Universal Serial Bus (USB) . The USB interface is implemented by a Serial Interface Engine (SIE), which handles the lowest layer of the USB protocol. The higher layers of the protocol must be implemented by the software of the microcontroller . The quality of this implementation is crucial for the compatibility of the USB device with various host controllers and operating systems.
