Serkal Kus

Serkal Kus is a German screenwriter of Kurdish descent.

biography

The son of Kurdish immigrants from Turkey began writing newspaper articles, cabaret and song texts when he was still at school. A business administration degree in Bavaria , which he completed in 2000, was followed by a film degree with a focus on screenwriting at the Hamburg Media School , which he completed in 2008. He then wrote scripts for film and television.

In 2009 Kus won the Young Civis for the film he wrote, Sores and Sîrîn , which tells the story of two Kurdish refugee children who are brought to Germany from Iraq.
