The Ishigaki Airport ( Jap. 石垣空港 , Ishigaki-Kuko ) was a commercial airport in the city of Ishigaki in Ishigaki-jima in Japan , Okinawa Prefecture . It was replaced by the larger New Ishigaki Airport in 2013 .

Due to the runway, which is only 1500 m long and cannot be extended any further due to the renovation, only aircraft up to the size of the Airbus A320 could take off and land. In order to meet the increasing demand for transport capacity, the airport has been replaced by a new, larger airport located on the east coast of the island. It will be closed on March 6, 2013.
