Service lifecycle management

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) is engaged in the life cycle of services . The SLM is related to the product lifecycle management of the manufacturer of a product. In addition to mechanical engineers , IT service providers are strongly represented in this business area.

In the field of mechanical engineering, SLM is about services that accompany the production process with its systems, machines and tools. Specifically, service intervals and the services required for them are to be managed and analyzed. It is also about machine telemetry to optimize manufacturing processes. All of the data obtained in the SLM ultimately serve to obtain reliable cost estimates over the entire service life of a machine. Increasingly, the customers of the machine builders are demanding a guaranteed total cost of ownership for the machines over a period of 10 years. This can only be determined and guaranteed by the machine manufacturer if he has sufficient information about the operation and the resulting cost factors.
