Service test is a term that has many different meanings because the word service is already used in several different ways.

Emergence

The word service is based on the same English and French word and means "service". Whenever the service quality of a service or a service is tested, one speaks of a service test.

application

One of the most common applications in German-speaking countries is customer service testing . This can be done with real customers, with test customers or with so-called hidden customers. In the first case, one speaks of test purchases. In the latter case, one speaks of mystery shopping or mystery calling .

But service also stands for service. That is why one speaks of a service test when the properties of a service are checked (stipulated in service level agreements ). For example, the speed of a telecommunications network or the time it takes to deliver a letter.

Internationally, the service test is also understood to mean the suitability test for the American military (Civil Service) or the test of a technical interface (SOA: Service Oriented Architecture).
