Servicio Nacional de Menores

The Servicio Nacional de Menores ( SENAME , "national minors' service") is the state body of Chile created by Decreto Ley Nº 2.465 on January 10, 1979 to protect the rights of children . The SENAME began its function on January 1, 1980.

The SENAME replaced the Consejo Nacional de Menores and the Fundación Niño Chileno and is subordinate to the Chilean Ministry of Justice. Among other things, it regulates and monitors adoptions and protects minors from the Chilean legal system.

An Austrian service abroad has been available since 2007 .
