Sesame Credit

Sesame Credit is a credit scoring system from Ant Financial Services Group , a subsidiary of China's Alibaba Group . Among other things, it uses data from Alibaba services to calculate a score for customers, and forwards this to government authorities. In contrast to conventional rating systems, not only the creditworthiness but also other behavior of a person is recorded. These include political statements on social media or a preference for domestic or foreign products. Participation in Sesame Credit is currently voluntary.

The system is integrated into the considerations and plans of the Chinese government to evaluate and rank its entire population from 2020 ( social scoring ).
