Sexual health

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sexual health is a term in sexology . Sexual health was first defined in a draft by the WHO in 1972 at a specialist conference. A new definition was adopted during a specialist conference in January 2002.

Sexual health is described by the WHO in the 2002 draft definition as "... the state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality and does not just mean the absence of illness, dysfunction or weakness."

The WHO also writes: “Sexual health requires both a positive, respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the opportunity for pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free from oppression, discrimination and violence. If sexual health is to be achieved and preserved, the sexual rights of all people must be recognized, protected and respected. "

The World Association for Sexual Health proclaimed September 4th as World Sexual Health Day in 2010 .
