Shūi-wakashū

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shui Wakashū ( jap. 拾遺和歌集 also: 拾遺集 Shuishu ) is a Waka - anthology from the Heian period of Japan .

It was compiled between 1005 and 1007. It is believed that either Tennō Kazan or Fujiwara no Nagatō was the compiler of the anthology. The anthology comprises 20 roles with a total of 1351 waka. It is assumed that the anthology Shūishō ( 拾遺 抄 , 996-999) compiled by Fujiwara no Kintō , which preceded the Shūi-wakashū, acted as namesake and model.
