Shang-Chi Sun

Shang-Chi Sun (born June 13, 1977 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese choreographer and dancer . He has lived in Germany since 2001 .

Life

Shang-Chi Sun studied dance at the National Dance Academy in Taiwan and then completed the master's degree in choreography at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. In 2005 he received the Bavarian Theater and Literature Prize from the IHK Cultural Foundation. In 2008 he won first prize at the 12th International Solo Dance Theater Festival Stuttgart with his choreography Dialogue II. Since then he has made guest appearances in Asia and Europe and has been a guest at the Shizuoka Arts Festival (Japan), Bayer Kultur (Leverkusen), Taipei Arts Festival, Tel Aviv Dance Festival, Trinity Laban London and Tanz im August (Berlin). In the 2010s he worked as a dancer and guest choreographer for the Cloud Gate Dance Theater in Taiwan, for Sasha Waltz & Guests , the Balletto Teatro Di Turino, the Staatstheater Nürnberg , the Transitions Dance Company London, as well as the Tanztheater Osnabrück and THE Dance Company Singapore worked. Since 2007 he has created several dance performances with his company such as u. a. “Walk faster” (2007), “Dialogue II” (2008), “Nüwa” (2009), “4.48 / Untitled” (2010), “Je.Sans.Paroles” (2011), “Traverse” (2011) , "Breakfast" (2012) and "Uphill" (2013), which are shown regularly in Europe and Asia (Maison de la Danse - Lyon, Festival Tanz im August - Berlin, Festival d'Avignon, International Taipei Arts Festival ... ). Shang-Chi Sun has also received support from the Berlin Senate , Aerowaves Europe, Cloud Gate Dance Foundation Taiwan, Taiwan Cultural Center in Paris, the Goethe-Institut and, since 2010, from fabrik Potsdam as part of "Artists in Residence".
