The Shenyang JJ-1 is a two-seat Chinese jet trainer and the first construction of the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation after its establishment. It should fill the gap between the basic trainer and a deployment pattern.

history

Construction began in October 1956. The result was an all-metal construction with low wing wings and retractable landing gear . The two crew members sat one behind the other, the air inlets were on the sides of the fuselage and fed a single centrifugal turbine.

After a relatively short development period, the first flight took place on July 26, 1958 with the pilot Yu Zhenwu in the cockpit. By October 1958, the flight characteristics were tested up to an altitude of 3,000 m. In doing so, she met expectations.

The Air Force of the People's Liberation Army , the PLAAF , however, changed their training plan in such a way that the student pilots switched directly from the basic trainer to the MiG-15UTI . Thus, the JJ-1 program ended. The machine is located in the Chinese Aviation Museum in Datang Shan in northern Beijing.
