Shining Star is a song by Earth, Wind & Fire that was released on their album That's the Way of the World in 1975 . The song was written by Maurice White , Larry Dunn and Philip Bailey and produced by White. Shining Star was Earth, Wind & Fire's first major commercial hit and a number one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts.

With Shining Star , Earth, Wind & Fire won a Grammy for the best R&B vocal performance by a duo, group or choir . The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008. The single was very successful commercially, selling over a million copies.
