Security officer (military)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the Bundeswehr, the security officer is the chief assistant responsible for compliance with security regulations during certain training and exercise projects.

In combat shooting (combat training in the sharp shot ), an experienced NCO with portepee or officer is always assigned as a security officer . Beyond that, no further tasks may be assigned to him. He is supported by security assistants (crews or NCOs) who use red and green flags (red or green light at night) to indicate the safety (charge level) of the weapons they are supervising and ensure that the safety regulations are observed. The security officer and his assistants are identified by red armbands on their upper arms (white fluorescent armbands at night). When it is bright, the security officer wears the red armband on both upper arms, while the security assistants only wear the left arm. During smaller target practice, the duties of the security officer are carried out directly by the chief (who is marked with white armbands on both upper arms).
