Security officer
The safety officer (SVP) according to the Austrian Employee Protection Act (ASchG) is an employee who performs a special function in relation to occupational safety , health protection and accident prevention in a company.
The SVP performs the function of employee representative as well as the agendas of information and support for employees in cases of health and safety. This includes regular tours of the company in order to identify any safety deficiencies (lying around, cable drums not unwound, insufficient safety equipment on the staff) and to ensure that they are rectified.
If there are more than 10 employees, SVP are provided. This person must be given the opportunity to acquire the technical knowledge in the form of a 24-hour training.

The appointment is for 4 years. 8 weeks before this deadline expires, the successor must be appointed and the name must be communicated to the labor inspectorate.
The function of the safety officer expires:
- if the employee resigns from the function.
- if the SVP is transferred to an office outside of its sphere of activity.
- the SVP's employment relationship is terminated.
- if the SVP is prevented from carrying out his / her work for more than 8 weeks.
