from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Siemens unit ( unit symbol : SE ), also known as the Siemens mercury unit , named after the German electrical engineer Werner von Siemens, was a unit of measurement introduced in German-speaking countries in 1860 for determining electrical resistance . It should not be confused with the SI unit of electrical conductivity , the Siemens , introduced later.

It was defined as the electrical resistance that occurs in a 1 m long mercury column with a cross-sectional area of 1 mm² below 0 ° C.

1 SE = 0.96 ohms
