Sigerich
Sigerich († 415 ) was king of the Visigoths in 415 . He came to power after the assassination of his predecessor Athaulf with the support of influential nobles. Since Athaulf had Sigerich's brother executed, he swore blood revenge . It cannot be proven whether Sigerich was involved in the murder.
Sigerich is considered a bloodthirsty and cruel ruler. He condemned the six sons of Athaulf from his first marriage to death and humiliated Galla Placidia , who had to walk long distances among the slaves. He pursued a policy hostile to Rome and prepared a great campaign.
After only seven days in reign, he was murdered by supporters of Wallia .
