Signal master (shipping)

The signal master is responsible on board for the correct flag management and marking of the ship for participation in sea traffic and during the port lay times. His area of ​​responsibility also includes the morning and evening flag parades.

In the navy, the signal master belongs to the deck officers (NCOs with portepee), such as helmsman, boatswain, fireworker, signal master, music conductor, machinist, master (carpenter), material manager, fire master, torpedo pilot, torpedo machinist, torpedo fire master, torpedo operator and torpedo mechanic.
