Sildekona is a sculpture in the Norwegian city ​​of Ålesund .

It is located on the Apoterkertorget in the center of the city on the western bank of the Àlesundet . A little further to the south-east is the Fiskergutten sculpture . To the west is the Svaneapoteket , which is used as an Art Nouveau center.

Sildekona ( German : Heringsfrau ) depicts an elderly woman processing herring in a slightly bent position over boxes and a barrel. The sculpture was created by Tore Bjørn Skjølsvik and unveiled in 1991. The work of art was financed by companies and private individuals who donated it to the city of Ålesund.

The sculpture is reminiscent of the women who worked in the herring processing, an important industry for Ålesund.
