history

When the Swiss engineer Alexander Weber invented the first silent curtain rail system in 1952 , the foundation stone for Silent Gliss was laid.

The success story of Silent Gliss began in the 1950s with the idea of combining nylon gliders and aluminum rails to produce the world's first quiet curtain rail systems. The entrepreneur Konrad Bratschi turned this first invention into a business that spanned the globe.

The first silent curtain rails were followed by curved profiles. The company was the first supplier whose curtains could be operated electrically at the push of a button.

At the beginning of 2020 it was announced that the company was relocating the headquarters of Silent Gliss International in Gümligen and the Swiss sales department in Lyss to the city of Bern and integrating part of the production into the new main plant of the Silent Gliss Group in Bad Bellingen in southern Germany . The Lyss and Gümligen locations were closed and jobs cut.
