Silke Hütter

Silke Hütter (* around 1985) is a German disabled athlete.

Career

Silke Hütter comes from Kempen in the Rhineland. She is severely visually impaired and only has about 10% of her eyesight. She has a degree in administration and has been working in the youth welfare office of the city of Krefeld since 2003 .

Despite her visual impairment, she devoted herself to judo from an early age. Because of her good performance, even against non-disabled people, she was appointed to the German national team. She took part with the team in the 2004 Paralympic Summer Games in Athens . In the light middleweight category up to 63 kg, she fought her way to second place and won a silver medal.

For this success, she and all German medal winners of the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on March 16, 2005 .
