Simtex , Inc., was an American game development company based in Austin , Texas .

It was founded by Steve Barcia in 1988. Simtex focused on the development of turn-based strategy games for personal computers , such as Master of Orion , Master of Orion II and Master of Magic . The company sold the trademark rights to all games to Atari and was dissolved in 1997.
