Sinaitic script

The Sinaitic writing , not to be confused with the proto-Sinaitic writing of the Middle Bronze Age, is an example in the 2nd century n. Chr. From the Nabataean writing Resulting writing system . It originated from the Phoenician alphabet and was mainly used by the participants in the numerous trade caravans on the rock faces of Waadi Muketteb on the Sinai Peninsula . Most of the inscriptions were made in the 3rd century . Here, too, the number of ligatures continues to increase. In some inscriptions, a lower connecting line is even drawn first and the upper letters are placed on top of it. This connecting line can also be found in the Syrian and later the Arabic scripts.
