Sinclair Computer Logic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sinclair Computer Logic is the ASIC of the Sinclair ZX81 , which integrates the logic made up of 23 chips in the Sinclair ZX80 .

In contrast to the manual, the SCL is called the Sinclair Logic IC on the plan in the leaflet of the kit.

The Sinclair Computer Logic is often confused with the term Uncommitted Logic Array (ULA). However, ULA is a general, alternative name for gate arrays and was used by Ferranti Semiconductors as an imprint for the SCL. The mix-up stems from the fact that only ULA and a Ferranti mask number can be read on the chip.
