Singelmann is a German family name and can be traced back to the name of origin and residence.

The origin of this name is the family name Zingelmann. Zingelmann comes from "someone who lives at or on or in the Zingel". As Zingel were referred to the external mounting of a castle or city (of surround) and "man" represents someone or somebody.

Variants and Distribution

Over the centuries, the spelling of family names often changed arbitrarily, especially under the influence of dialects, so that some names have dozens of spelling forms.

The original name Zingelmann became the variant Singelmann. This is where the family name Sengelmann came from.

The family names Zingeler and Zingler are also variants of the name Zingelmann.
