Sisters in Crime

Sisters in Crime is an international network with the aim of promoting crime novels by women. Sara Paretsky is one of the founders .

Members are authors, readers, publishers, literary agents, translators, booksellers, librarians and many others - all crime fans . The concern of the Sisters in Crime is the equality of women and men in the field of crime.

Networking, informing, supporting one another - this is how the organization counteracts inequality in the treatment of crime writers and wants more attention to be paid to the contribution made by women in the crime genre.

The members exchange ideas about what they read and write, they inform one another about competitions and prizes, and they maintain contact with other associations.

The German-speaking section of Sisters in Crime, the German Chapter - Murderous Sisters, has existed since 1996. Membership in spring 2007: more than 300 members, mainly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In 2007, the German Chapter was detached from the American organization and renamed Murderous Sisters - Association of German-speaking crime authors .
