Sisters of Loretto

The Sisters of Loretto are a Roman Catholic women's order in the United States .

The organization was founded in Kentucky in 1812 by the three women Mary Rhodes, Ann Havern and Christina Stuart together with the "Apostle of Kentucky" Charles Nerinckx . In the decades that followed, the work of the sisters expanded, particularly in the southwestern United States, with the establishment of a Loretto Academy in Santa Fe , New Mexico . The order established branches mainly in the rural regions of 16 US states as well as in the states of Bolivia , Chile , People's Republic of China , Ghana , Peru and Pakistan .
