Six Stories

Six Stories is a limited collection of six short stories by the American writer Stephen King . The anthology was published by King's own small publisher Philtrum Press from Bangor in 1997. There have been no publications in other language countries.

The edition of the anthology Six Stories was limited to 1,100 numbered and signed copies, only 900 copies were sold to the public on the American book market. Four of the total of six stories contained had previously been published in various magazines, the other two short stories were previously unpublished.

Awards

For the story The Man in the Black Suit , King already received the O. Henry Award in 1994 in the "Best American Short Story" category and the World Fantasy Award in the "Best Short Fiction" category. A year later, King was honored with the Bram Stoker Award in the "Best Short Story" category for the short story Lunch at Gotham Cafe .

The short story The Man in the Black Suit was published for the first time in New Yorker Magazine and received an award for this publication.

The excellent story Lunch at Gotham Cafe was published in the English collection Dark Love in 1995 before it was published in Six Stories . It was later published in Blood & Smoke (audio book) by Scribner Verlag in the USA. The first German publication took place in 1997 by Heyne-Verlag after a translation by Sepp Leeb. Wulf Bergner made another translation for the reading on an audio CD entitled Blood and Smoke .

Autopsy Room Four , LT's Theory of Pets , Lunch at the Gotham Cafe , Luckey Quarter and The Man in the Black Suit were republished by Scribner in 2004 in the Everything's Eventual: 14 Dark Tales collection and thus made accessible to the general public; the German translation is entitled In the Cabinet of Death . Blind Willie was heavily reworked as part of Hearts in Atlantis (German Atlantis ) also re-released.

LT's Theory of Pets is also available as a live reading by King himself in an audio book version (1 CD).
