from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sk stiftung jugend und medien is a foundation that works in the field of media education. Its aim is to impart media skills: young people should learn to deal creatively, independently and critically with new media .

activities

The focus is on media education and professional orientation for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 21 from the Cologne / Bonn area. To this end, it offers various workshops in which children and young people can, for example, create radio plays , take photos, produce videos or learn to program in common languages, etc. Further workshops for young adults give the opportunity to try out various media professions in a practical manner and to receive specific tips for starting a career from company employees.

In addition, there are also offers for educators: On the one hand, projects are jointly developed and operated, and on the other hand, the foundation offers the practice afternoon media aperitif once a year .

The workshops for children and young people mainly take place during the school holidays. Cooperations with educational institutions and offers for career orientation for young people are offered all year round. In contrast to the workshops, the cooperation projects are not firmly planned, but are developed and carried out upon request by institutions (e.g. schools, youth work institutions).

organization

The non-profit foundation was founded in 1976 by the Stadtsparkasse Köln (merged with Stadtsparkasse Bonn to form Sparkasse KölnBonn since 2005 ) and has endowment capital, which means it is independent of donations. It has lecturers who primarily have pedagogical and media-related knowledge. Foundation bodies are the board of directors and the board of trustees.

It is an operational foundation of the Sparkasse KölnBonn. This means that it does not award any funds, but instead carries out projects independently or in cooperation with other partners.
