Ski Apache

Ski Apache is one of the US's southernmost ski resorts in southern New Mexico . It is located at Ruidoso at the foot of the Sierra Blanca Peak , the height of which is approximately 12,000 feet or 3,660 meters. Belonging to the reserve of the Mescalero Indians, it is also run by them. The ski area is where New Mexico's only gondola lift operates ; there are also 8 chair lifts and 2 drag lifts that can transport up to 16,500 people per hour. The ski area extends over 3 square kilometers and has 55 slopes (11 blue, 17 red, 27 black). It's also open to snowboarders .

Ski Apache is the home of the speed skier and Mescaleros Ross Anderson , who holds the speed record in the western hemisphere at 150 miles an hour .
