Skilandis

Skilandis or Kindziukas (in Polish Kindziuk ) is a cold-smoked pressed sausage from Lithuania . Chunks of meat, bacon, salt, pepper and garlic are used for this. The sausage mass is then traditionally filled into a pig's stomach or a pig's bladder, today also into other sausage skins. Then the sausage is dried and then cold-smoked, but not boiled.

Skilandis is documented as early as the 16th century. It is extremely durable due to the type and duration of maturation.

The term “Skilandis” is protected by EU law as a guaranteed traditional specialty .
