Sláger Rádió

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sláger Rádió was a Hungarian radio broadcaster . He mainly played music from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. He also sent messages regularly. The station belonged to the American investor Emmis.

Sláger Rádió has been on the air since February 16, 1998. His claim was: "The greatest hits of the 60s, 70s and 80s". However, this name was no longer entirely accurate, as the broadcaster played hits from all ages.

The station was one of the most popular radio programs in Hungary and until 2009 could be received in 81% (75,350 km²) of the country.

In October 2009 the Hungarian frequency allocation agency ORTT withdrew the broadcasting license from the broadcaster. The decision was criticized by various states, including Germany and the USA, as being opaque. László Majtenyi, the chairman of the ORTT who was not entitled to vote, resigned in protest at the award practice. Since then, until October 28, 2010 (setting), Sláger Rádió only broadcast on the Internet and took legal action against the ORTT.
