Slate is a prototypical , object-oriented programming language . Most of the other such languages to Slate differs in that in addition CLOS -like multi-methods are supported. Slate's syntax is closely based on Smalltalk . The object system is similar to that of Self .
Like Squeak or Self , the Slate distribution will also contain a visual programming environment in the future. It combines ideas from the Morphic GUI framework and the Common Lisp Interface Manager .
Slate was developed by Squeak and LISP developers Brian Rice and Lee Salzman.
