Sleepycat License
The Berkeley Database License (formerly Sleepycat Software Product License ) ( . English license : "License") is a free software license of Oracle (previously Sleepycat Software , Inc.). It has been recognized as an open source license by the Open Source Initiative (OSI).
The license is a strong form of copyleft . It therefore stipulates that the distribution in any form includes the source code not only of the software under the Sleepycat license, but also of all accompanying software that uses the former.
According to the Free Software Foundation , it qualifies as a free software license and is compatible with the GNU General Public License (GPL). This means that the source code of the accompanying software can be disclosed under the GPL.
Software under the Berkeley Database License
Oracle uses the license for its products Berkeley DB , Berkeley DB Java Edition and Berkeley DB XML. The Cryptlib library has adapted the license.
