Slider (mobile phone)

Slider is a commonly used term for mobile phones in which the upper and lower housing halves can be moved relative to one another. When closed, only the display, the navigation buttons, the buttons for accepting and ending the call and the menu buttons are generally visible. The keyboard only appears after the upper half of the case has been pushed up. With this method, similar to flip phones , a comparatively large display can be accommodated in a very space-saving manner. In addition , there is no need for a key lock with either design , since the numeric keys are covered when closed and cannot be accidentally pressed.

One of the first slider cell phones was the SL 10 from Siemens from 1998.
