Slug (unit)

Slug was a unit of mass in the English technical system of units and was divided into slug and slug metric .

  • 1 slug = 32.174 pounds = 14.594 kg
    This is the mass that will be accelerated 1  ft / s 2 when a 1  pound-force is applied to it. The numerical value 32.174 is the value of the standard acceleration due to fall when it is expressed in ft / s 2 .
  • 1 Slug metric = 9.80665 kg = 1 Kilohyl (corresponds to a technical unit of mass)
    This corresponds to the mass that is accelerated by 1 m / s 2 when a force of 1  kilopond is exerted on it.
