Smart export
Smart (actually Smart Export ) is an Austrian cigarette brand from Austria Tabakwerke AG .
history
Smart Export was introduced as a filter cigarette in Austria on September 7, 1959 . In mid-1962 it was the second most popular cigarette brand in Austria and in 1968 it finally ousted the Austria 3 brand (also A3) from number one on the popularity scale. The “Export” itself was replaced by the Hobby brand in 1975.
Packaging design
The Smart Export design dates back to 1959 and is attributed to Austria Tabakwerke . The black pack with the white and gold lines, the globe and the phrase "semper et ubique - always and everywhere" were designed by the graphic artist Heimo Lauth on their behalf. Its design is based on that of Emanuela Delignon (née Wallenta) for the predecessor brand "Smart" from 1955.
Product family
The following cigarettes are available today under the Smart brand:
- Smart American Blend Red
- Smart American Blend Orange
- Smart American Blend Yellow
- Smart American Blend Silver
- Smart Export ( Softpack )
- Smart American Blend fine cut
distribution
Smart Export is now a niche product, but remains popular because it is relatively cheap - in Austria a box of 20 of the varieties “Smart Export”, “Smart Export White” and “Smart American Blend 100” costs € 5.00 (April 2018).
stage name
The avant-garde Valie Export chose her artist name very early on in view of the graphically represented world awareness of the Smart Export brand. In 2017 the Valie Export Center with its pre-legacy archive will be opened in the former tobacco factory in Linz .
