Smart card receiver marriage

Under Smart Card Receiver marriage (Engl. Pairing for pairing ) refers to a setting of a specific smart card to a specific receiver ( receiver ). After the »marriage«, the programs that can be activated with the smart card can only be received in combination with the respective receiver and the smart card can no longer be used with other receivers.

This method is used, among other things, by the German pay TV broadcaster Sky with subscribers in the hotel industry in order to prevent the theft of cards by hotel guests or staff.
