Smokey Eyes is a make-up style in which the eyes are emphasized with dark colors. The term "smokey eyes" refers to the smoky appearance of the area around the eyes, which is made up in dark (mostly black or gray) tones. Smokey eyes particularly emphasize the white skin of the eyes and the iris by creating a strong contrast. Often smokey eyes are made up based on the color of the iris, for example a green iris in dark green and blue tones.

General application

The specialty of the Smokey Eyes is to use at least two different eyeshadow colors. Basically, the inner part of the eyelid, i.e. the part that is closer to the eye, is made up with the darkest color, while lighter and lighter shades are used further outside. Most of the time, the individual shades of color are blurred together at their transition points in order to obtain the smoky expression that gives it its name. The application of the eyeshadow is usually complemented by dark eyeliner or kohl , which is applied directly to the edge of the eyelid, as well as by the use of dark mascara . As a rule, the eyelashes are very heavily inked when applying make-up to Smokey Eyes. Smokey eyes are mainly used as evening make-up for disco, parties, balls or similar occasions.
