Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow is makeup applied to the eyelids . Most of the time, the eyeshadow is applied with small brushes or special "applicators". There are also newer developments, such as liquid or creamy eyeshadow, which can also be applied directly with eyeshadow sticks, which work similarly to lipsticks.
function
The eye shadow is used to change the expression of the eyes in order to send out certain signals or to correct weaknesses in expression.
With eye shadow, the eye area can appear optically enlarged to increase the erotic charisma.
Since the eyes are an essential part of recognizing certain individuals among other people, an appropriately applied eyeshadow, for ritual or other purposes, can help to conceal one's identity.
Eye shadow can also be used instead of eyeliner or kohl to draw the eyeliner. For this, a mostly dark eyeshadow is applied along the upper (and sometimes also lower) lash line with a fine brush. Compared to an eyeliner drawn with an eyeliner, such an eyeliner appears much softer and in some cases enhances the desired smokey eyes effect.
history
Since the eyes are an essential vehicle for non-verbal communication, from time immemorial almost all peoples paid special attention to painting the body.
Both women and men used khol ( kohl ) for eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows . Khol was not only used as a cosmetic article, but also as protection against eye infections.
Grated malachite was already used as an eye shadow in Nubia during the Copper Age.
As was the general culture of cosmetics in ancient Egypt , the history of making up the eyes is also documented in great detail. Galena , henna and malachite ore were used to apply eye make -up. The ores were ground into powder and mixed with some animal fat.
Regulations in Germany
Eyeshadows are a cosmetic product . As part of eye care, they form the decorative cosmetics segment together with face make-up, lip and nail care products . Purity requirements for the dyes are laid down by the Dye Commission of the German Research Foundation and the Cosmetics Directive.
durability
As a rule, eye shadow can be kept for at least 24 months. A corresponding expiry date should nevertheless be noted on the respective products by the manufacturer. "12 M" stands for 12 months, starting on the day on which the cosmetic product was opened. However, the use-by date is only a guideline, recommended by dermatologists. The applicator used to apply eyeshadow to the eyelid should be cleaned regularly at short intervals.
