Lip balm

A lip balm is a skin care product that is applied to the skin of the lips . It is used to protect the skin from external influences (e.g. UV light or the like) and dehydration, or to treat dry, brittle, injured or sick lips, for example in the case of angular angular disease , stomatitis or herpes labialis .

In contrast, lipstick or lip gloss are about cosmetic properties; in some cases, however, both are also linked. Usually the product consists of waxes , fats and nourishing, cosmetic or other additives. A stiff stick is usually formed from the mixture, which is wiped over the lips to apply it. But there are also liquid, creamy products known as lip balms. These are usually made in the form of a tube and can be applied directly to the lips from this.

The most famous lip balm brand in Germany is Labello . The market leading product in the United States is called ChapStick .
