Société de Construction Aéronavale

The Société de Construction Aéronavale (SCAN) was a French manufacturer of seaplanes. The company was based at Port-Neuf in La Rochelle . Its director Léon Douzille died on a test flight in 1948.

The company produced only two types of seaplanes from 1938 to 1952: the single-engine training flying boat S.CAN 20 and the twin-engine SCAN 30 , a license production by Grumman Widgeon .

From 1952 the company turned to the production of aluminum profiles for the construction of prefabricated houses. At the time of closure in 1979, it employed 279 people.
