Social Science Research Network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Social Science Research Network ( SSRN ) is a website and document server for the rapid dissemination of research papers in the social sciences , human sciences , humanities, and economics .

Open Access

The goal of SSRN is that scientists can make their research available as working papers via Open Access before they are published in academic journals after peer review . The free upload is intended to facilitate discussions between scientists.

In May 2017, over 700,000 documents were available in the SSRN.

history

In 1992, Wayne Marr founded the Financial Economics Network (FEN). This resulted in the SSRN with Michael C. Jensen in October 1994.

SSRN has been part of the Elsevier science publisher since May 2016 . The takeover was viewed with skepticism by scientists who feared that the world's largest publisher of science journals would restrict access.
