Society for Artistic Research

The Society for Artistic Research ( SAR ) is an international, non-commercial society dedicated to the international development, linking and dissemination of artistic research. SAR also aims to encourage collaboration and contact between people interested in the theory and practice of artistic research.

history

The Society for Artistic Research (SAR) was founded in 2010 in Bern (Switzerland) on the initiative of Florian Dombois , Michael Schwab and Henk Borgdorff . Over 80 artists, researchers and academics from all over the world, academic and non-academic institutions and people signed up for the founding list, including the German ! KF - Institute for Artistic Research Berlin .

  • to publicize the various activities of artistic research inside and outside institutions
  • To enable cooperation and exchange between those interested in artistic research
  • To hold conferences and gatherings that discuss and publicize the communication of artistic knowledge

activities

  • The society publishes the international journal Journal for Artistic Research (JAR), an international, internet-based, freely accessible and peer-reviewed journal for the discussion, publication and publication of artistic research and its methods from all artistic disciplines.
  • The society publishes the Research Catalog (RC), a public database that publishes artistic research by all users.
  • The Society awards the Annual Prize for Excellent Research Catalog Exposition for innovative, experimental publication formats (for the first time for 2017)
  • The SAR society holds an annual general meeting with a symposium on current topics
