SolVin pretzels

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SolVin-Bretzel is a research station for the exploration of tropical rainforests that was developed as part of the United Nations Global Canopy Program (GCP) . Its purpose is to take a closer look at the treetops of the rainforests, in which there are still thousands upon thousands of unknown species of plants and animals . One hopes to gain new knowledge about the ecosystem and new remedies from previously unknown plants.

The name refers to the shape of the construction, which is similar to an extended pretzel .

construction

The construction consists of inflatable load-bearing PVC parts, between which a net is stretched. The resilient net represents the base of the observation post. The 500 kilogram pretzel-shaped station creates an area of 400 m². It is stable and at the same time very light.
This station can be lowered onto the treetops by helicopters without affecting the local ecosystem.
