A solander box

A Solander box is a folding box in the shape of a book. It is made of wood or cardboard and is provided with a stable cover. It is mainly used to store books, documents and graphics. The exterior of the cassette is often covered with fabric or leather, while the interior is lined with thick paper.

The Solander box was invented by the Swedish botanist Daniel Solander while working as a librarian for the British Museum .
