Some Broken Hearts Never Mend is an American country song . The piece was written by Wayland Holyfield and was the first single from the album Visions by singer Don Williams in January 1977 . In May 1977 the song reached number 1 on the country charts .

In 1980 the song was covered by Telly Savalas and this version was a number one hit in Switzerland . Numerous German cover versions were created such as Kann Liebe alles verzeih'n ( Jonny Hill , 1979) and Wenn also die Jahre vergeh'n ( Peter Alexander , 1986).
