The Sonnenhof AG Bern is the oldest private hospital group in Bern , Switzerland . 823 people and 167 attending doctors work in its two clinics . The clinic group has 200 beds and eight operating theaters and covers a wide range of acute medical specialties. The Engeried retirement and nursing home also belongs to the clinic group. Peter Kappert has been the managing director since 1998.
history
The name Sonnenhof goes back to the Sonnenhof Clinic on Ostring in Bern, which opened in 1957. The private clinic group Sonnenhof AG Bern was created in January 1998 from the merger of the Sonnenhof clinic with the Engeried clinic in the Neufeld district in Bern (opened in 1907).
On January 1, 2012, the Lindenhof Bern Foundation took over the majority of the share capital of the two Sonnenhof clinics.
