Souter Johnnie's Cottage

Souter Johnnie's Cottage is a residential building in the Scottish village of Kirkoswald in the Council Area South Ayrshire . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. The character Souter Johnnie in Robert Burns 'most famous poem Tom o' Shanter is based on the real person John Davidson . Davidson was a shoemaker in Kirkoswald and lived in this building.

Souter Johnnie's Cottage is a traditional cottage from 1785. It is located directly on Main Road in the old core of Kirkoswald, not far from Kirkoswald Parish Church . The facades of the one-story building are whitewashed. It closes with a thatched gable roof .
