South African Heritage Resources Agency

The South African Heritage Resources Agency ( SAHRA for short ) is the official administrative institution for the protection of cultural heritage in South Africa , based in Cape Town . It was established on the basis of the National Heritage Resources Act, Act No. 25/1999 and replaced its predecessor, the National Monuments Council (NMC) .

It pursues the goals of promoting the public presentation of the South African cultural heritage and identification with it, as well as taking care of conservation and protection measures in the present and future.
